Adaptive Lighting System for Mines

General Description:

This adaptive lighting system is designed to improve safety and visibility inside the mine. It automatically adjusts the intensity of the floodlights installed along the final 100 to 150 metres of the tunnel entrance, helping workers adapt to changes in lighting both when entering and leaving the mine.

Main Components:

  1. Electrical Control Panel:
  • Powers and regulates the system components.
  • Adjusts floodlight intensity through a 1-10V voltage control system, providing a smooth transition between different lighting levels.
  1. Signal Regulator:
  • Receives the signal from the lux meter and adjusts the power supplied to the floodlights according to outdoor lighting conditions.
  • Manages input signals and adapts the output to the required intensity.
  1. Lux Meter:
  • Measures outdoor light levels and sends a signal to the control panel to adjust the lighting.
  • Supports selectable measurement ranges, adapting from very low light conditions, such as darkness, to very high levels, such as direct sunlight.
  1. Floodlight Network:
  • Installed along 100 or 150 metres at the tunnel entrance.
  • Intensity is regulated by the control signal from the electrical panel, enabling gradual visual adaptation when entering or leaving the mine.

System Operation:

  • Entering or leaving the mine when outdoor light levels are high: the floodlight network provides intermediate lighting levels between full daylight and the darkness inside the tunnel, with a gradual reduction in intensity along the network. This helps workers adapt to darkness without temporary blindness when entering and prevents glare when leaving.
  • Entering or leaving the mine when outdoor light levels are low: at dusk or at night, the system reduces the intensity of the floodlight network so that the eyes of workers adapt progressively, providing a smooth transition between the tunnel interior and the outside.
